Privacy Policy
What Safer collects, why we need it, who can see it, and how to have it deleted.
The short version
- You don’t need an account, an email or a phone number to play.
- We don’t sell your information, and we don’t use ad trackers.
- If you join a crew, the people in it see your name and scores. If it’s a Crew Pro crew, its manager sees them too.
What we collect
- On your device. Your answers, scores, streak and stats are saved in your browser’s local storage. They stay on your device unless you join a crew.
- If you start or join a crew. The name you pick, which crews you’re in, and your daily results (your score and which questions you got right). Your device gets a random player ID and key so it can prove it’s you; we store only a scrambled (hashed) version of the key.
- If you run a Crew Pro. Your email address, your sign-in sessions, your plan and job site names. Stripe handles your card. We receive your Stripe customer ID and plan status, never your full card number.
- Counts that aren’t tied to anyone. How many people played each day and the average score, and how many times the sponsor was seen or clicked.
- Technical data. Cloudflare, which hosts Safer, processes IP addresses and request logs to deliver and protect the site. To stop abuse of sign-in emails, we keep a scrambled version of the IP address that asked for a sign-in link for a day.
How we use it
- To run the daily quiz and crews, and to show crew members each other’s scores.
- To give Crew Pro managers their dashboard, the Monday summary email and downloadable participation records.
- To send sign-in links, bill Crew Pro plans, answer questions, and keep Safer secure.
Who can see it
- Your crew. People in your crew see your name and your scores for the last week.
- Crew Pro managers. The manager of a Crew Pro crew sees each member’s name, daily scores and which questions they missed, and can download them as a spreadsheet.
- Service providers. Cloudflare (hosting, database and email delivery) and Stripe (payments) process data for us under their own privacy and security terms.
- The law. We may share information if the law requires it, or to protect people’s safety or our rights.
We don’t sell or rent personal information, and we don’t share it with advertisers.
Only Crew Pro managers get email from us: sign-in links, the Monday summary (you can turn it off in your dashboard) and notices about your plan or billing. Players never get email from Safer.
Cookies and local storage
Safer uses one cookie, only for Crew Pro managers, to keep you signed in. Players’ stats live in local storage on their device. We don’t use advertising or analytics cookies.
Keeping and deleting your information
- Your device. Clearing your browser’s site data for besafer.io erases your stats and unlinks your device from your crews.
- Crews. You can leave a crew any time. To delete your player name and scores entirely, email us.
- Crew Pro accounts. Email us to close and delete your account. We keep billing records as long as tax and accounting rules require.
- Scores older than two years may be deleted.
Children
Safer is made for adults who work in and around construction. It isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
Security
Safer runs over HTTPS. We store device keys and sign-in tokens only in hashed form, and sign-in links expire after 20 minutes. No system is perfectly secure, so please tell us right away if you think something is wrong.
